Stone Wool

Squishy, warm, and kinda cute, these little slipper socks are fun to knit. They start at the cuff and continue to the toe. The after-the-fact heel is worked using a technique from Nancy Bush’s excellent book, Folk Socks (Interweave Press, 1994). If you (like me) shudder at the thought of Kitchner Stitch, no worries. Toe and heel each end on a few stitches, which are gathered up and cinched closed with a yarn tail. Need I say it? These would make great presents for anyone you know who loves warm and cozy feet.
